Looking for something fun to do? Grab your family and friends, and your ukulele, and head on over to the 41st Annual Ukulele Festival happening today at Kapiolani Park Bandstand in Waikiki. Thousands of ukulele players from all over the world will gather to celebrate the music and joy created by the tiny four-stringed instrument. And it’s free.
Hundreds of island children will perform, as well as guests from Italy, Thailand, Australia, Japan, Korea and Taiwan. As always, there’s a great line-up of talent from Hawaii, including Ohta-San and the group Hookena. Jake Shimabukuro will close out the show. (The festival is set to end around 2:30pm Hawaii time.)
Watch Jake Shimabukuro playing “While My Guitar Gently Weeps.” Enjoy!
Hah, that picture is too cute! I love playing the ukulele and I hope to make it to the uke fest someday.
