As the Oscar race heats up, one contender has already won over fans in Hawaii, where the movie was filmed. And it’s not just because of its moving story, but also because of its soundtrack.

Please tune in to find out more about the music behind “The Descendants” tomorrow morning on NPR’s Weekend Edition Sunday, January 8.

The story will air at the end of the first hour. (It’s a two hour-long show.)

I had the pleasure of interviewing director Alexander Payne, and the film’s music supervisor Dondi Bastone, and several talented Hawaiian artists, including Keola Beamer, for this story.

Congratulations to all the talented Hawaii musicians and musical legends that are featured on the soundtrack!

Hope you’ll tune in!
