There was a lot of glitz and glam at the EuroCinema Hawaii Awards Gala held at the Moana Surfrider hotel in Waikiki last night.
Beautiful actress, Barbara Carrera, best known for her role as a James Bond girl in the 1980s, turned quite a few heads as she made her way up the red carpet.
And many spectators cheered as other celebrities arrived. Australian actor Brenton Thwaites, who plays Prince Philip in the movie Maleficent was honored with a Rising Star Award at the event.
Producers and stars of Hawaii Five-0 also turned out for the festivities, including Daniel Dae Kim and his lovely wife, Mia.
Princess Dialta Alliata di Montereale helped found the EuroCinema Hawaii Film Festival in 2009 in partnership with the Hawaii International Film Festival to increase cultural relations between the people of Hawaii and Europe. It also provides financial support for Hawaii’s student filmmakers. And by creating a “festival within a festival,” it’s become a showcase for some of the latest and best films of Europe.
Taking everything in, actor, martial artist and dancer, Cole Horibe, looked happy to be back home. Born and raised in Hawaii, Horibe now lives in New York City. Earlier this year, he starred as Bruce Lee in the world premiere of David Henry Hwang’s “Kung Fu” off-Broadway. He was also a former contestant on “So You Think You Can Dance.” Horibe says his first love is acting and we’ll soon see him back on TV. He just finished filming some scenes for an upcoming episode of Hawaii Five-0.
Among the fashion designers stepping out in style was Ari South, formerly known as Andy South, back when he was a Project Runway contestant.
Many supporters and leaders of Hawaii’s film and creative arts community also attended the gala including:

While many nibbled on ono pupus created by some of Hawaii’s top chefs, the champagne flowed. It was great to see everyone enjoying the celebration and also good fun talking story with folks like Daniel Dae Kim. Ever since he landed the role as a castaway in ABC’s “Lost,” which lasted six seasons, he’s been on a roll. In addition to playing Chin Ho Kelly on “Hawaii Five-0,” now in its fifth season, Kim is also working on producing three new TV Shows. Stay tuned.
